Back to school time is here, and fall is about to roll in quickly, so why not whip up some cupcakes that look like my favorite autumn fruit, apples?
You can use any premade cupcakes that you want. I think chocolate and spice cake are my top choices, but if you’re more of a vanilla or butter cake fan, that’ll work nicely, too.
Truly, this is more of a decorating hack than a recipe. I love how easy this is and I think you will, too!
This is a sweet treat for a back to school party, harvest party, themed playdates, goodies for the teachers, a fall birthday celebration, or any reason at all. A simple color tweak could make these into adorable pumpkin cupcakes as well. Be creative and have fun.
You Will Need:
12 cupcakes, any flavor
2 to 3 cups vanilla frosting in red (Pictured is Pillsbury Funfetti Frosting in Red)
6 Tootsie Roll Midgies
12 Green M&M candies
You will also need:
Large open star tip (Wilton 1M Open Star Piping Tip) *affiliate link*
Piping bag
To Make:
- Pipe frosting over each cupcake in a circular direction working from the center of the cupcake towards the outside and back to the center.
- Split each Tootsie Roll in half. Twist the candy in between your fingers to form a stem.
- Place a candy stem in the top point of each cupcake. Then place an M&M in the icing next to the stem.
Simple, but so adorable, right?
